Some tips

Since January 2016, the entrance to the Maldives is allowed to e-passport holders (those issued after 2006), with residual validity of at least 6 months. The tourist visa, issued on arrival at the airport lasts 30 days.
Thinadhoo is in the Vaavu Atoll, 70 km south of Malè. At the airport you’ll be received by our personnel and assisted during the transfer to the island via speedboat (80 minutes).
Temperatures are stable all year (between 25 and 35C°) but climate changes according to the monsoon season: dry from november to april, very sunny and pleasantly windy, wet from may to october with frequent rain and wind. Also in this period clear and sunny days are frequent though.
Maldives is +5 hours GMT.
Maldivian telephone companies grant a good coverage also during transfer across the islands. Maldives Sunset offers you a prepaid telephone card, that you can recharge according to your specific needs. Local currency is the Maldivian Ruflia, today equivalent to some 17 Rfl / 1 Euro. Credit cards are quite common in Male only, not on the island where you can easily change euros and US dollars. Electricity is 220 – 240 V. Our rooms are provided with italian plugs and international adaptors. No vaccination is required for a trip to Maldives. In the nearby island of Felidhoo a good hospital for emergency and basic therapy is available; for serious cases, the main hospital is in Male.
We can provide some basic medicines for common use such as painkillers, antibiotics, disinfectants and the like, but we suggest our guests to bring a minimum endowment as well as specific medicines if needed. On the island you can easily find good products for personal care, sun protection and mosquito repellents. As in the rest of Maldives, the Thinadhoo community is muslim and, altough very friendly and open to tourists, it is necessary and opportune to respect their local customs and laws. It is therefore strictly prohibited to import alcoholic beverages, any kind of drugs, pornographic material, pork meat and derivatives. Swimsuit are allowed in the bikini beach area only; in the village guests are required to wear t-shirts and trousers in order to cover belly and shoulders. Scuba fishing and corals or other sealife grabbing and damaging is also forbidden.
